Spiritual and Natural Metaphors

Faith is like our natural muscles, we need to practise it in order for it to grow. Praying to God is like talking to our best friend. Our body is like the temple of God, do not desecrate it. Our hope of salvation in this world is like an anchor for a boat in a sea of turmoil and darkness. The word of God provides nourishment for spirit, food provides nourishment for our body.

Wonders of Nature

Millions known species of insects 24, 600 known species of fish 15, 000 species of mammals 6,000 species of reptiles 9,000 species of birds 1,000 species of amphibians And counting... Taken from http://www.worldstory.net/en/species.html I don't understand why people can't see the handprints of God in nature...the artistry of how so many different things work and function together, starting from the atomic particles and how every single proton, electron and neutron stay in place, to the cells in our bodies that multiple into various parts of our body, to creating a incredible organ our heart that work non-stop for 70-100 years, to the vast number of creatures that speak of a Creator, to the majestic peaks of Everest and mountains, to the depths of valleys and the grandeur of Niagara Falls, to the delicate balance of how systems of foodchain and ecosystem function, to the natural laws of gravity and planetary forces at work keeping planets orbiting and in balance. 'For since ...

Preach What You Practise

Interesting, we often hear the phrase 'practise what you preach', think the inverse statement makes more sense to me. Recently, I became slightly disillusioned with teaching, somehow to inspire and motivate a student seems very difficult, what more an entire class and several classes in total. The amount of work to be done even for a practicum teacher is tremendous, think to a large extent, it also depends on how much you care about the quality of your work which affects the students under your charge. I realised that my negative and pessimistic thoughts do affect my actions and the way I function. Generally, I feel tired and unmotivated for the whole of Monday after weeks of labouring non-stop, the ironic of it all, I'm supposed to lead and motivate my classes. But by the grace of God, I became aware of how I'm not walking in His provision and strength. Let the joy of the Lord be my strength, I have allowed my joy of salvation to take a backseat and my human tendency t...

Good Fridays

I have gone through 26 Good Fridays...of these have known the true meaning of the day since the 15th Good Friday...trying to picture how Jesus would have feel...struggling so hard that beads of sweat turn to blood... Extracted: Although this medical condition is relatively rare, according to Dr. Frederick Zugibe (Chief Medical Examiner of Rockland County, New York) it is well-known, and there have been many cases of it. The clinical term is "hematohidrosis." "Around the sweat glands, there are multiple blood vessels in a net-like form." Under the pressure of great stress the vessels constrict. Then as the anxiety passes "the blood vessels dilate to the point of rupture. The blood goes into the sweat glands." As the sweat glands are producing a lot of sweat, it pushes the blood to the surface - coming out as droplets of blood mixed with sweat What was the source of Jesus great stress and anguish? Clearly he was in intense spiritual agony . Being the Son of...

Looking Back

At certain times in our lives, we take a look back at what we have accomplished especially when we are in a capitalist society where material comforts and high standard of living has become synonymous with the quality and meaning of life. In general, we stress ourselves and work hard to secure a high-paying job, then after material comforts like car and eventually some get married and settle down in a house/home. Its in times of reflections like these when I'm not working late then I pondered over the words of King Solomon (the wisest man in history apart from Christ) when he wrote 'Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and on the labor in which I toiled; And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun.' Eccel 2:11 And his conclusion to his thoughts, 'Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, including ...
